I
moved to the east to start a new job in the stock market. I wanted to
experience a new lifestyle after the war. The Midwest is different. I like to
be in the big city around trees and tall buildings. The Middle West seems like
the edge of the universe now. My parents don’t like that I’m moving so far, but
they agreed to help finance me for a year. It’ll get a little weird waking up
and sleeping in such a rowdy city. I chose the bond business because it is the
most popular of them all. I wanted to live close to work but a young man at my
work said that we should take a house together in a commuting town (West Egg).
I ended up meeting a fine young name that goes by the name of Jay Gatsby. He
went by the name of James Gats in the war. He was in my regiment during the war,
but I guess I never met him face-to-face. He’s a very nice neighbor who likes
to throw some great, classy parties. Anyways, I find it a little weird that the
young man never showed up to the house that we were supposed to live in
together. Apparently, he found a new job somewhere else. So right now I’m
living in this bungalow alone. Everyone who lives in the Eggs are filthy rich.
I’ve made a decent amount of friends here already. My cousin, Daisy Buchanan,
moved with her husband Tom to East Egg. I’ve hung out with them and had some
good times.
