After the lunch in New York with
Jay, I saw Jordan, who finally told me the details or her mysterious
conversation with Jay. She told me that Jay Gatsby was in love with my cousin,
Daisy Buchanan. According to Jordan, during the war, before Daisy married Tom,
Daisy was a beautiful young girl in Louisville, Kentucky, and all the military
officers in town were in love with her. Daisy fell in love with Lieutenant Jay
Gatsby, who was stationed at the base near her home. I felt that their
relationship was real unlike hers with Tom. She also told me that Gatsby bought
his house in West Egg to just be near Daisy who lives in East Egg. I remembered
the night I saw Gatsby stretching his arms out to the water and realized that
the green light he saw was the light at the end of Daisy’s dock. According to
Jordan, Gatsby asked her to convince me to arrange a reunion between Gatsby and
Daisy. Because he is terrified that Daisy will refuse to see him, Gatsby wants
me to invite Daisy to tea. I was feeling a little bit nervous about his plan.
In my mind I decided to do this favor for him because I saw signs of true love
between the two of them. I felt that Gatsby was very lovesick. The green light,
in Gatsby’s mind, is a symbol of hope. He hopes to be together with her in the
future. I would like to see my cousin with a better man than Tom.
(jordan) I know this news can be quite shocking but it's the truth. I wishI could have seen Daisy with Gatsby but I guess it just didn't work out.
